New modules are in stock

As of this week, we have new batch of iGPS360 modules from the second production run in stock.

For everyone who had a pending order, your module was shipped on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 :-)

    new modules yay! wow i can remember a year ago when this started and i was excited over the first batch! now itsalready on the the second mass production run wow! so wat is this new potential product i keep looking back here to find out.....

    I tested it and they don't seem to get along.Any chance on the mobile substrate subject, now that we have an actual interesting app?

    @Plak: You can try to change the settings in the file configurations.ini as follows:

    Change:

    [Default]
    ; com=[COM1:,9600 | autodetect]
    com=Integrated GPS,9600

    to

    [Default]
    com=[/dev/tty.iap,115200 | autodetect]
    ; com=Integrated GPS,9600

    or try:

    [Default]
    com=[tty.iap,115200 | autodetect]
    ; com=Integrated GPS,9600

    I have trouble downloading the software (very slow) and there are no maps available for US, so I haven't test this out here yet. Maybe some people in Europe who have maps can give the settings above a try to see if it works :-)

    @all: I have deleted a few posts as those posts contained information and links that encourage software piracy... for obvious reasons, they have thus been deleted.

    For those of you that are in Europe, give the following a shot:

    In the iDA.app directory, delete the file "settings.dat" and change the following lines in the "settings.ini" file:

    [Default]
    ;com=[COM1:,9600 | autodetect]
    ;com=Integrated GPS,9600
    com=/dev/tty.iap,115200

    Then restart iDA. Let me know if that works... it could just be that they don't have serial port support built into the iPhone version of their software...

    I tried this new method im italy but it seems not work. It says "waiting for valid signal". I have tried also:
    [Default]
    ;com=[COM1:,9600 | autodetect]

    same results! :(

    Official answer received from RIPDEV :
    "Hello,

    Currently, iDA doesn't support external gps modules."

    That doesn't mean there will not have a hack solution anyday...

    I have tried the com=/dev/tty.iap,115200
    change, but unfortunatly it doesn't work...
    Hope someone comes with a solution someday.

    @GPS: I'm still investigating howto use IDA with iGPS360 with no luck so far but I wanted to share what I've seen.

    If you chqnge 0 to 1 in the file menu.ini :
    menu.settings.gpsStatus=1
    menu.settings.gpsLogs=1
    you'll get new options that might interest us like :
    GPS Hadware/COM Port
    GPS Hadware/Baud Rate
    GPS Hadware/Turno GPS module Off
    GPS Hadware/Autodetect
    GPS Hadware/Wizard
    unfortunatly most of them will crash the app sooner or later, but I want to believe there is a solution to our problem !

    One more thing : With an iPhone v1, IDA seems to use GSM triangulation as it has been able to locate me quite precisely (in city, didn't try on the road) without any external GPS connected.
    Of course, location refresh is very poor but it works.

    I guess we can conclude from this that IDA is able to pick other "source" than the 3G's internal GPS. (or Apple's API for internal GPS and GSM triangulation is the same?)

    @Vincent: How did you mange to get a position fix using the triangulation function from the GSM Carries.
    Mine cannot fix me. Do I need to change something in the iDA settings in order to perform that

    I'm no installing GPSSerial to see if it works... Big expectation !!!!

    I installed GPSSerial but nothing works. Even xGPS stopped working.

    Did you have an alternate operations on yours?

    I observed that if you open GPSSerial and set iGPSD as your GPS device, once you close the app it loses the settings. I mean it cannot set the iGPSD as a GPS.

    I have a question to all the beta testers,

    It seems to work on some appstore apps,
    but it does not show speed in none of the app store apps. Correct me if I am wrong.

    Also the iDA software does not show speed, and it is dead slow. I am way passed a crossroad, when the voice says turn......

    I am using iphone 2G, with igpsd module from xwaves store.
